In Ayurveda, all skin disorders are categorized under the term Kushtha. The pigmentation disorder known as Switra is included in this classification, as it meets the general criteria for Kushtha by presenting cosmetic challenges. The characterization of Switra in Ayurvedic literature closely resembles that of vitiligo as described in contemporary medical texts. This study aims to assess the efficacy of Switra Nashak Churna and Lepa in treating Switra (vitiligo). The term "Vitiligo Lepa" denotes a herbal or Ayurvedic paste designed for the treatment of vitiligo, a condition marked by the loss of skin pigmentation. In Ayurvedic terminology, vitiligo is often referred to as "Shwitra" or "Kilas," with various herbal remedies employed to address the issue. This herbal lepa is meant for topical application on areas lacking pigmentation, complemented by controlled sun exposure to stimulate melanogenesis. Consistent use, along with dietary adjustments and Ayurvedic internal treatments, may facilitate gradual repigmentation and skin renewal. The formulation is natural, economical, and devoid of synthetic additives, positioning it as a viable Ayurvedic option for managing vitiligo.
