Barleria cristata (Vaijayanti), an important medicinal plant, holds significant potential due to its bioactive constituents such as flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, and phenolic acids. Traditional Indian medicine has long utilized this plant for treating various ailments. This review highlights the extraction methodologies, phytochemical analyses, pharmacological activities, and future prospects associated with B. Cristata flowers and leaves. Techniques like solvent extraction, column chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography (TLC) facilitate the isolation and characterization of its active compounds. This work aims to bridge traditional knowledge and modern scientific validation, establishing Vaijayanti medicinal value and commercial significance.
